Hospital
Celebrity rock super group SCRAP
METAL featuring all star lead front men Gunnar Nelson (NELSON), Kelly Keagy
(NIGHT RANGER) and Mark Slaughter (SLAUGHTER) has been announced to headline
JUDE JAMS 2007, the benefit concert for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, on October
25, 2007.
Nashville, TN (Billboard Publicity
Wire/PRWEB ) October 1, 2007 -- Celebrity rock super group SCRAP METAL
has been announced to headline JUDE JAMS 2007, the upcoming benefit concert
for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at Northwestern State University
in Natchitoches, Louisiana, on October 25, 2007.
Jude Jams 2007 is an inaugural charity
event sponsored by TrueJams Charities, Inc., a Louisiana based charity-utilizing
music to bring comfort and help to Louisiana's children post-Katrina devastation,
and NSU student fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon.
SCRAP METAL is a who's who of multi-platinum
lead singers and front men, including Kelly Keagy of NIGHT RANGER whose
number one rock hits include "Sister Christian", "Don't Tell Me You Love
Me" and "You Can Still Rock In America"; Gunnar Nelson, son of Rock'n'Roll
Legend Ricky Nelson, and half of rock group NELSON whose pop/rock number
one hits with twin brother Matthew include "(Can't Live Without Your) Love
and Affection", "After the Rain", and "More Than Ever"; and Mark Slaughter
of SLAUGHTER whose penned number one hits include "Up All Night Sleep All
Day" and "Fly to the Angels".
"St Jude's is the home of hope for
thousands of children and their families every year. I would walk through
fire to help one child with cancer ... Let alone thousands," passionately
vows SCRAP METAL co-founder Gunnar Nelson. "This concert is my chance to
do that ... AND I even get to shred some eardrums in the process! Sounds
like a perfect night to me!"
"We have a great city, a perfect
venue and a campus full of rock and roll fans to help us give back to St.
Jude's. It's going to be an amazing night," enthuses band co-founder and
True Jams Board Member Mark Slaughter. "You know helping your fellow human
beings doesn't have to be a downer. We can still throw a party and celebrate
our freedoms while remembering those who need a helping hand. Come help
us give something back. SCRAP METAL can't wait to rock you in Natchitoches,
Louisiana!"
All the artists involved are passionate
about supporting St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and the tremendous
work they do for sick children. In fact, SCRAP METAL recently made a TV
appearance and raised over five thousand dollars for St. Jude's Children's
Research Hospital, as contestants on DirecTV's game show, "Rock and a Hard
Place" set to air in late October.
True Jams Charities, Inc. has selected
St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital to be the beneficiary of 100% of
the net proceeds for its inaugural event. "St Jude's was instrumental in
rescuing and providing medical treatment to children in the affected New
Orleans area (during Hurricane Katrina) by flying them to treatment centers
in Baton Rouge and Memphis," notes TrueJams Charities, Inc. President &
Co-founder Randy Ryder. "When TKE Fraternity Faculty Advisor Alan Hardin
and I started brainstorming, I knew right away that SCRAP METAL was the
band to headline our inaugural event, St. Jude's should be the beneficiary
and Mark Slaughter and I had found a way to implement our vision for TrueJams."
Jude Jams 2007 will be held on Thursday,
October 25 at 7 p.m. on the campus of Northwestern State University in
Natchitoches, Louisiana, at Prather Coliseum located at 398 S. Jefferson,
Natchitoches, LA 71457. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the NSU
Athletic Ticket office.
