Update: 01/03/10

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

Oh...sorry...that was The Night Before Christmas. But truth be told the Troop Stockings Project for 2009 was a huge success! We send a HUGE thanks to each of you for sending items and donating money to this very special project!! Once again you have stepped up to the challenge of ‘making a difference’ in the lives of others and showed nothing but generosity and love, for the soldiers who are far from home.

Very special thanks goes to Sue Therrien who headed up this project, and took on the task of organizing all these items throughout the month and making sure that they were sent to the soldiers. Another GREAT job, Sue!! We appreciate your time and dedication to this project. Please take a moment to read Sue’s special message below regarding the stocking project.

From all of us here at the NST THANKS for taking part in this project and working together!!!

From Sue Therrien:

Another Christmas has gone by and once more the members of the Nelson Street Team have stepped up and donated with an unbelievable response.  We began the drive late and chose Christmas stockings for the troops as our charity of choice for the Christmas season.  We only had a few weeks to get everything done and the first two weeks started off slow.  Things were looking bleak.  We received a unit of twenty men to send stockings too from the America Supports You team.  There were doubts if we would even receive enough for those twenty.  Then the donations of goods and checks began arriving.

Soon the twenty stockings were filled and overflowing and we asked for another unit.  A unit of 15 men was given to us to fill orders for. After a little more shopping, for more candy and stockings to add to the stacks of cookies, crackers, nuts, and granola bars we had received, those 15 were also filled.  After a little figuring on the amount of boxes those orders would fill and shipping costs, we had enough left to fill another 7 stockings and total in the shipping costs for those.  We asked for the additional seven soldiers,
(a medical unit of women this time) for a total of 42 stockings filled and delivered.

Great job everyone.  Thank you all.
Love and Hugs
Sue Therrien

THE PROJECT:

Did you know that there are soldiers over seas who have never received anything from home? They are over there trying to make sure we stay safe over here. From November 1-30 The NST will be gathering goodies & making stockings to send to our Troops overseas for the holidays. We can bring a smile to someones face for the holidays when they can't be home with family and friends.

We have 3 ways available to us to do this.

1. You may send your own filled stocking.
2. You may send items and NST member Sue Therrien will put stockings together.
3. You may send money and Sue will buy items for the stockings on your behalf.

For each dollar spent you will earn 1 point. You also earn 1 point for each dollar you spent on shipping your items.
Please send a copy of your receipt to get your points!

You can help by gathering items and mailing them to:
